Southwest Capital Bank To Join WestStar


Two Community Banks. A Shared Commitment.

WestStar and Southwest Capital Bank have entered into a definitive agreement to partner, bringing together two community banks with deep roots in the Southwest and a shared commitment to relationship banking and the communities they serve.

The partnership will expand WestStar’s New Mexico presence beyond Las Cruces into Albuquerque and Northern New Mexico while building on Southwest Capital Bank’s established relationships, local knowledge, and more than 135 years of service.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. There are no immediate changes for clients of either bank.

WestStar clients will benefit from the long-term growth and expanded capabilities the partnership creates across New Mexico and the Borderplex region, which includes El Paso, Texas; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Juárez, Mexico. WestStar’s commitment to its existing communities remains unchanged.
